The media world is on fire after Don Lemon delivered a brutal, expletive-filled response to Megyn Kelly, slamming her for celebrating Joy Reid’s MSNBC departure.
Lemon, a former CNN anchor, didn’t hold back on his YouTube show Monday, calling Kelly the worst person on television and outright labeling her a racist. His rage was fueled by Kelly’s mocking remarks toward Reid after MSNBC officially canceled her show, The ReidOut.
"Let me just say to Megyn Kelly, on my 30-some years as a journalist and my 50-some years as a person of color: Go f‑‑‑ yourself," Lemon fired off.
His words set social media ablaze, further deepening the ongoing media war between liberal and conservative personalities.
The controversy erupted after Megyn Kelly openly mocked Joy Reid’s MSNBC exit, celebrating her downfall on social media and her podcast.
Kelly took to X (formerly Twitter) over the weekend, calling Reid “the absolute worst person on television” and reminding followers of the time Reid mocked “white women tears.”
"Remember when Joy Reid laughingly mocked ‘white women tears’ as pathetic and offensive to her? Who’s crying now, Joy?" Kelly posted.
Kelly doubled down on her criticism in a Monday podcast episode, adding:
"She was officially fired over the weekend because she’s a racist, horrible news anchor with no ratings."
Her comments sparked outrage among MSNBC supporters, with prominent media figures, politicians, and activists rallying behind Reid.
Don Lemon, who was previously friendly with Kelly, turned up the heat on his show, slamming her as a racist and bringing up her past controversies.
"The worst person on television was fired from NBC and the Today show a few years ago, and that’s Megyn Kelly. That’s the worst person who’s not on television anymore. It’s you. So hoorah for that. NBC did something good with that."
Lemon didn’t stop there. He reminded viewers that Kelly’s own show, Megyn Kelly Today, was canceled in 2018 after she defended white people dressing in blackface for Halloween.
"I was actually friendly with Megyn Kelly, and then, when people show you who they are, you better f‑‑‑ing believe it," he continued.
Kelly has yet to respond directly to Lemon’s attack, but given her history of fiery comebacks, a response seems inevitable.
Reid’s final MSNBC episode of The ReidOut aired Monday, marking the end of her career with the network as MSNBC undergoes major changes under a new presidential administration.
Despite her departure, MSNBC’s biggest names defended her.
- Rachel Maddow condemned the network’s decision, calling it a “mistake” and criticizing MSNBC’s lack of diverse anchors.
- Jen Psaki, Stacey Abrams, and Rep. Yvette Clarke all voiced their support for Reid, with Clarke calling her a “trailblazer and giant of journalism.”
Reid herself became emotional during her final broadcast, defending her legacy and fighting back tears:
"My show had value. What I was doing had value."
The conservative media outlet Townhall quickly posted the tearful moment, which Kelly mocked online, saying:
"Joy Reid has viciously mocked the tears of every white person she’s helped cancel over the years for some imaginary racial slight. Now she wants us to feel sorry for her. WE DON’T."
With tensions boiling over, this feud between Don Lemon, Megyn Kelly, and Joy Reid is far from over.
- Will Kelly fire back at Lemon’s insults?
- Will MSNBC executives respond to the backlash?
- Is Joy Reid planning a comeback in another media space?
One thing is clear—this media war is only getting started.
